The first round of negotiations on concluding the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Serbia and Korea
At the opening of the first round, the Korean side emphasized that the Republic of Serbia is the only country in the Balkans with which negotiations on such an agreement are being conducted, which indicates the importance they attach to developing bilateral relations at a comprehensive level. The negotiations include 10 different areas, including tariff concessions, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade, intellectual property, and economic cooperation.
The future agreement will represent an important step toward improving and institutionalizing bilateral economic cooperation, enabling greater transparency in trade relations and contributing to better conditions for placing Serbian products on the demanding market of the Republic of Korea. Increased competitiveness of Serbian exports is expected to stimulate the growth of trade volume.
The first round of negotiations was preceded by several months of successful cooperation, during which the format and content of the agreement were harmonized.
