05. Nov 2021.
The delegation of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government (MDULS) presented Serbia’s achievements in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) and its future policies for implementing key strategies for digital transformation of society at the Global ICT Leadership Forum 2021, held on November 5 this year in Seoul. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea.

The MDULS delegation showcased Serbia’s accomplishments in ICT and outlined its future policy directions for implementing digital transformation strategies at the Global ICT Leadership Forum 2021, hosted by the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA).

The key message of this year’s forum, dedicated to development strategies for digital transformation in the post-COVID-19 era, was that strengthening global cooperation will contribute to digital transformation and future prosperity.

Serbia’s achievements in ICT were presented by MDULS State Secretary Ms. Maja Mačužić Puzić. The event also served as an opportunity for the Ministry and NIA to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of ICT. In addition to strengthening friendly relations between Serbia and Korea, the Memorandum aims to enhance ongoing cooperation, modernize administration in the ICT sector, and improve the services offered by the existing SKIP Center (Serbian-Korean Information Access Center) in Belgrade, as well as establish a new SKIP Center in Niš. Notably, Serbia is one of the few countries in the world to have two SKIP Centers. The Belgrade center has been recognized as one of the best among over 60 such centers worldwide, having provided services to more than 40,000 citizens since its opening four years ago. These citizens have received free IT training to improve technological literacy and gain the skills needed to access the e-services developed by the Serbian Government.

On the sidelines of the Global Forum, Ms. Mačužić Puzić held talks with colleagues from the relevant ministries of the Republic of Korea, Ghana, Moldova, Malawi, Egypt, and Bhutan. She also exchanged views with NIA representatives regarding future cooperation outlined in the Memorandum, the development of e-government, and the importance of open data for the citizens of Serbia.
